About Henderson Equine Clinic
Henderson Equine Clinic has been serving the Genesee Valley Horse Community for 15 years. Henderson Equine Clinic was opened in 2000 by Bonny Henderson, DVM and her husband Don. Bonny has served the local horse community for 20 years. Striving to provide the highest level of equine veterinary medicine at economic prices. Our common sense approach has helped our clients achieve and maintain high levels of care. Since the opening of Henderson Equine Clinic, we have been committed to providing the horse community of Western New York with quality, compassionate care.
In 2013 we added small ruminants to our client base, with the addition of Anne Dewar, DVM to the practice.
Dr Dewar and Dr Henderson regularly provide equine reproductive services to Standardbred and Thoroughbred breeders as well as offering breeding management, artificial insemination, and neonatal care and assessment in clinic or on farm.
Dr Bonny's dedication to offering a wide variety of veterinary modalities to our client base has led to a busy equine Chiropractic and Accupuncture service for our clients, with additional modalities such as Class IV therapeutic laser and vibration plate treatment available for management of acute and chronic conditions.
Bonny Henderson, DVM
Dr. Henderson has been serving the local horse community for 20 years. She graduated from the New York State College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell in 1994 and returned to Geneseo in 1995. Bonny is originally from Balston Spa, NY just outside Saratoga Springs. She decided she wanted to become a veterinarian at the age of 5. She started riding lessons at 8 and her love for horses blossomed into becoming an equine veterinarian. After high school she did her undergraduate studies at SUNY Geneseo. She picked Geneseo because of the large horse community and rich tradition of equine activities. Bonny opened the Henderson Equine Clinic in 2000 to further her commitment to serve the local horse community. Along with the general veterinary services, she was certified by the International Veterinary Chiropractic Association in 2006 and has enjoyed providing chiropractic services for equine and canine patients. Bonny became certified by the Chi Institute of Chinese Medicine in veterinary acupuncture in 2012. She utilizes these alternative techniques to assist performance and pleasure horses reach their top potential. In her spare time she is an avid foxhunter with the Genesee Valley Hunt. Bonny loves to ride and currently has 4 horses Emma, Norex, Kimmy, and Rachel.
Anne Dewar, DVM
Dr. Dewar graduated from Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 2011, and settled in Avon after graduation. She worked as an associate veterinarian at a private practice at Finger Lakes Race Track for the 2011 and 2012 race meets, caring for and treating Thoroughbred race horses. She has experience in treating and evaluating subtle lameness, as well as the nuances of keeping an extreme equine athlete healthy and in top condition. She utilizes that experience conditioning and competing her horses in Endurance rides.
Dr Dewar has a strong interest in equine reproduction and genetics. She enjoys working closely with local breeders, providing assisted reproductive techniques, ultrasound, and breeding management. She has also expanded Henderson Equine Clinic’s patients to include sheep, goats, alpacas, and llamas. She has many years’ experience working with and for sheep and goat producers, and was one of the first students through the UMass Camelid Studies program led by Dr. Steve Purdy, while in her undergraduate education at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.
Anne’s spare time is filled with fox-hunting with the Genesee Valley Hunt on her Rocky Mountain Horse, conditioning for AERC endurance rides, and training her two dogs for obedience, herding, tracking, and flyball. She is a Veterinary Control Judge with the American Endurance Ride Council (AERC) and is a firm believer in the importance of educating young people about agriculture (whether it be equine, ovine, caprine, bovine, porcine, or camelids), and loves to speak to students, 4-H groups, FFA, etc.
