Equine Herpes Myeloencephalitis Cases in Erie County!!

NY Ag and Markets informed us today that there have been three confirmed cases of Equine Herpes Myeloencephalitis (neurologic Herpes) on a farm in Erie County. At this time the farm is under quarantine and we have not been made aware of any horses that have come on or off the premise recently.

Please be mindful of biosecurity as you travel on and off farms with or without your horses! Taking temperatures twice daily on all horses that travel off farm or interact with non-resident horses is recommended. An increase in body temperature is the first sign of Equine Herpes Virus infection.

Please call 585-243-5560 if you have any questions about your horse's health or potential exposure.
